How it works

  1. Obtain New York automobile liability insurance
  2. Complete Form MV-82
  3. Mail or bring your application and proof of ownership to a local DMV office within 30 days of establishing residency
  4. If registering by mail from outside New York, allow up to 6 weeks for registration documents and up to 90 days for your title certificate
